If your paint looks dull, hazy, or covered in fine spiderweb scratches, that's swirl damage — and I can fix it. Paint correction is multi-stage machine polishing that physically levels your clear coat to remove swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation. The result: your paint goes from cloudy and lifeless to deep, mirror-like reflection. I'm Vlad, and I perform every correction personally at my Spokane Valley studio using P&S professional-grade compounds and a paint depth gauge — so I never remove more clear coat than necessary.

What Is Paint Correction?

Over time, automatic car washes, improper washing, and environmental exposure create thousands of micro-fine scratches in your clear coat. These swirl marks catch light at different angles, making your paint look dull instead of deep and glossy. Paint correction uses machine polishers with abrasive compounds and pads to carefully level the clear coat — physically removing a measured amount of paint to erase those defects and restore clarity, depth, and gloss.

The process is both science and craft. Too little correction and the defects remain; too much and you risk compromising the clear coat. That's why I start every correction with a paint thickness measurement and work methodically, panel by panel, under LED lighting that reveals every imperfection.

What You Get

Your paint goes from hazy and dull to deep, mirror-like reflection
Light scratches and water spots significantly reduced or eliminated
Single-stage, two-stage, and multi-stage options for any condition
P&S professional-grade compounds — not consumer-grade products
Ideal preparation for ceramic coating
Paint thickness measured on every panel for safety

The Process

1

Paint Inspection & Measurement

I inspect your vehicle's paint under LED lighting and use a paint depth gauge to measure clear coat thickness. This tells me exactly how much correction is safe for each panel.

2

Decontamination Wash

A thorough wash and clay towel treatment removes embedded iron particles, tar, and overspray so they don't interfere with the polishing process or cause new scratches.

3

Test Panel & Compound Selection

I polish a test panel to determine the optimal combination of pad, compound, and machine speed for your specific paint system before working through the entire vehicle.

4

Multi-Stage Machine Polishing

Using professional-grade compounds and polishes, I work stage-by-stage through the clear coat — compounding to remove deeper defects, then finishing to refine the surface to a deep gloss.

5

Final Wipe-Down & Inspection

A panel-by-panel inspection under LED lighting confirms the correction results meet my standard. I apply a final protection layer and provide before-and-after documentation.

Lock In Your Results with Ceramic Coating

Paint correction creates the clean, corrected base that ceramic coating locks in. I can perform both in a single visit — maximum correction, maximum protection, and a finish that lasts for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need paint correction?

Paint correction removes surface imperfections like swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation through machine polishing. If your paint looks dull, has visible scratches in sunlight, or lacks depth, paint correction can restore it to better-than-new condition. We offer single-stage and multi-stage correction — we'll recommend the right level during your drop-off inspection.

Will paint correction remove deep scratches or rock chips?

Machine polishing removes defects within the clear coat layer. Light swirl marks and fine scratches are fully eliminated. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail may be significantly improved but cannot be fully removed without repainting. Rock chips require professional touch-up paint.

How long does paint correction take?

Depending on the severity of the defects and the size of the vehicle, most paint corrections take 1–2 full days. We never rush the process — every panel gets the time it needs.

Will paint correction remove all scratches?

Machine polishing removes defects within the clear coat layer. Light swirl marks and fine scratches are fully eliminated. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail may be significantly improved but cannot be fully removed without repainting.

Should I get ceramic coating after paint correction?

Absolutely. Paint correction is the ideal preparation for ceramic coating — it ensures you're locking in a flawless, corrected finish rather than sealing in imperfections. We can perform both in the same visit.

How often will I need paint correction?

With proper washing techniques and paint protection in place, a quality correction can last for years. We provide guidance on maintaining your results to prevent new swirl marks from forming.

Can paint correction fix water spots and oxidation?

Yes. Water spot etching and oxidation are common defects that respond well to machine polishing. During your inspection, we'll assess the severity and recommend the right number of correction stages.
